Visa and Immigration Specific Questions

Clear up your doubts about processing times, language requirements, and mobility rules.

For admission to an English-medium program, no local language knowledge is required at the visa stage. The visa application assesses your admission confirmation, financial capacity, and intent to study — not language ability. However, local language proficiency significantly improves your chances of employment after graduation and your day-to-day quality of life.

Processing times vary by country and embassy. As a general guide:

• Germany: 6 to 10 weeks (plus 4 to 6 weeks for APS certificate for Indian applicants — start this first)
• Netherlands: 2 to 8 weeks (often faster through university IND sponsorship)
• France: 3 to 6 weeks (through Campus France process)
• Ireland: 4 to 8 weeks
• Spain: 4 to 8 weeks
• Italy: 4 to 10 weeks

All timelines should be treated as minimum — apply well in advance of your intended travel date.

Changing universities within the same country generally requires notifying your immigration authority and obtaining updated documentation. Changing to a university in a different European country requires a new national student visa for that country — your German residence permit does not permit you to study in France. Plan your study destination carefully before applying for a visa.
